TRS Training offers car licence holders and Category C drivers around Bristol individual Class 1 licence training, with morning sessions and the DVSA practical test included in the course price.

St Helens, United Kingdom, October 22, 2026 /PressCable/ -- TRS Training has announced one-to-one HGV Category C+E licence driver training courses at its Bristol driving school in Avonmouth, preparing learners to drive articulated vehicles up to 44 tonnes professionally.
More information is available at https://www.trstrainingltd.com/car-licence-to-category-ce/
The announcement comes amid a UK shortage of HGV drivers. Logistics UK’s 2026 Employment and Skills Report found that the number of HGV drivers fell from 313,000 to 283,000 in a year, while Department for Transport figures show 26% of HGV businesses reported driver vacancies in late 2025. TRS Training seeks to address this by giving new and experienced drivers a direct route to a Class 1 licence.
For drivers starting from a car licence, the nine-day car licence to Category C+E course costs £2,880. Learners must hold an HGV C+E provisional licence and have passed the Part 1a and Part 1b theory tests, with a £195 HGV Starter Package available for these steps.
Category C licence holders can take the five-day Category C to Category C+E course at £1,700, which employers can also use to upskill staff. Both prices include VAT and DVSA test fees.

Sessions run from 8 am to 12 pm, with the final day reserved for the test. Training covers vehicle and trailer walkaround checks, coupling and uncoupling, urban, rural and motorway driving, reversing with a trailer, and managing articulation, swing and off-tracking. The DVSA assessment includes vehicle safety questions, the Module 3A reversing exercise and the Module 3B on-road test. Tests are booked only once the instructor judges the learner ready.
The school operates from Western Approach Distribution Park, near the M4, M5 and M49, with practical tests taken at the Newport LGV test centre. Instructor Barry Powell, who has more than 15 years of industry experience, trains learners in a Mercedes Actros articulated vehicle and a DAF rigid truck.

Filipinos are almost evenly divided over the Marcos administration’s handling of the maritime dispute with China, even as nearly three in four favour diplomacy over confrontation, according to a new survey. That preference has taken on added significance after recent remarks by China’s ambassador to Manila sparked a diplomatic row ahead of November’s Asean summit. The feud underscored the challenge of managing tensions with Beijing, and increasingly hostile rhetoric could make the diplomatic...

Tran Dai Thang spotted two young people who had picked up their drinks at a pop-up cafe beside his travelling bookstore and were about to leave, so he called them over. One of them said they did not read books, Thang recalled. But he kept the conversation going and eventually persuaded the visitor to buy a book for 10,000 dong (US$0.40) – heavily discounted from its original price of 45,000 dong. For Thang, an artist and publisher, the small sale mattered far less than the fact that someone who...
